Attachment

Recommendation for Cabarrus County Tourism Authority
Support of the Cabarrus County Economic Development Initiative

Purpose:

The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority strongly supports the initiative to broaden and improve
the economic development program for Cabarrus County. The Authority recognizes that
successful efforts to attract new business to our county or expand existing businesses in the
county will eventually result in increased business travel expenditures. Therefore, the Tourism
Authority will become a partner in the newly constituted Economic Development Corporation.

Financial Support:

Just as many private businesses and municipal governments have done, the Tourism Authority
will make a three-year commitment to financially support the Economic Development Corporation.
The Authority's pledge will be $25,000 per year for three years.

Representation on the Economic Development Board:

In recognition of the Authority's commitment, the Tourism Authority will be provided one voting
seat on the new Economic Development Board.

Location of the Convention & Visitors Bureau Offices:

Recognizing the importance of the close cooperation that currently exists between the CCCVB
and the Cabarrus Regional Chamber, the CCCVB's office will remain in the Chamber building
under a new three-year lease. This will also enable the Bureau to work closely with the staff of the
new Economic Development Corporation which will also be housed in the Chamber Building.

MarketinQ Cooperation:

The Tourism Authority will commit to working closely with both the Chamber and the Economic
Development Corporation to market the county. This will encourage the development of the
correct imaging for both tourism development and economic development.

The Tourism Authority will also set aside funds to assist economicdevelopment efforts that will
promote the county as a tourism destination.

file: proposed CCCVB econ dev corp partnership

i
....,

1=- J '?.
