CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Warren C Coleman was bom in Concord, North Carolina in 1849 and lived <br />most of his life here, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Coleman was a business entrepreneur, including the ownership of our <br />Nation's first African American owned and operated textile factory that was located at Highway <br />601 and Mmn Street in Concord, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr Coleman was a staunch supporter of education, assisting such colleges <br />and universities as Barber-Scotia College, Howard University, Livingstone College and Shaw <br />University; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through the humamtanan efforts of Warren C. Coleman, the social, <br />political, economic and educational level of citizens in Cabarrus County was improved; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarms County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim February 1, 2003 as <br /> <br />WARREN C. COLEMAN DAY <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County to honor the memory and many accomplishments of Mr Coleman. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 27th day of January, 2003 <br /> <br />Robert M.
