Ordinance No. 2003- <br /> <br /> Amendment to <br />CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />Chapter 14, Article II <br /> Permits and Inspections <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED that Chapter 14, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances, <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> ARTICLE I <br />IN GENERAL <br /> <br />Secs. 14-1 - 14-25 Reserved <br /> <br /> ARTICLE II <br />PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS <br /> <br />Sec. 14-26. Permits required. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to build, construct, repair, remodel, insulate, <br />add to, move or demolish any structure or building within the county without first <br />having secured a permit for the proposed work. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />It shall be unlaw~l to initiate work on any proposed project before a permit is <br />obtained. A fee equal to two times the permit fee will be assessed for a violation <br />of this section. <br /> <br />A permit is not required for any construction, installation, repair, replacement, or <br />alteration costing $5000,00 or less in any single family residence or farm building <br />unless the work i([Volves: the addition, repair, or replacement of load-bearing <br />structures; the addition (excluding replacement of same size and capacity) or <br />change in design ef plumbing; the addition, replacement, or change in the design <br />of heating, air corlditioning, or electrical wiring, devices, appliances, or <br />equipment; the us~ of materials not permitted by the Nzrtk Carolina State <br />· --,--------~,°":'a;~' r~^a~.,~ internationa! Building Code (including North Carolina <br />amendments); or the addition, excluding replacement of like grade fire <br />resistance, or roo§ng. <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful to commence or proceed with any new construction without <br />first obtaining an Insulation permit. <br /> <br />(e) <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for any person who, for consideration, installs, alters, or <br />restores any insulation or other materials or energy utilization equipment designed <br />or intended to meet the x~u ,--.~,:~ c~.~ r,..:,a:~., r~^a,~ International <br />Buildine Code (ia_eluding North Carolina amendments) for insulation and <br />energy utilization ~tandards, to begin work without first securing a permit.
