January 7, 2003

Chief Robert Eamhardt
Mt. Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department
1706 Brantley Road
Kannapolis, NC 28083

Chief Eamhardt,

This letter is to inform you that there is a proposal before the Cabarms County Board of
Commissioners to amend the Cabarrus County Fire Prevention Code. The proposed
amendment will eliminate further cash contributions by the Board of County
Commissioners. The cash contributions were to be phased out over a period of time. In
fact, there are only five departments that are still receiving money each year. They are:

Georgeville Fire Department
Jackson Park Fire Department
Mt. Mitchell Fire Department
Northeast Cabarrus Fire Department
Rimer Fire Department

$ 426.00
$ 995.00
$1857.00
$1487.00
$ 831.00

If the amendment is approved, the fire departments listed above will no longer receive
this money each year. The Board of Commissioners will review the proposed
amendment on January 27, 2003. If you have any comments or concerns about the
proposed amendment please call me or plan to attend the Board of Commissioners
Meeting.

Sincerely,

Mike Downs
Public Safety Director
