They <br />addressed issues regarding the role of the Transportation Advisory Board in <br />providing oversight for the transportation services. <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion regarding the proposed renewal of the <br />contract with Mid-State Transport. Commissioner Carpenter requested input <br />from the Transportation Advisory Board regarding the proposed contract <br />renewal along with financial information concerning the company. <br /> <br /> U~ON MOTION of Com~issloner Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Freeman and <br />unanimously carried, the Board deferred consideration of the proposed renewal <br />of the transport service contract with Mid-State Transport until the budget <br />meeting on May 29, 2003, with the requested information (recommendation from <br />the Transportation Advisory Board and financial information) to be available <br />at that meeting. <br /> <br />(F) NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />(F-l) CDBG Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program - Public Hearing - <br />6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Ms. Kelly Sifford, Community Development Manager, presented a brief <br />overview of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Scattered Site <br />Housing Rehabilitation Program administered by the North Carolina Department <br />of Commerce's Division of Community Assistance. The program provides <br />approximately $400,000.00 for scattered site housing rehabilitation for low <br />to moderate-income persons and families. The program will be available in <br />the unincorporated areas of Cabarrus County and the municipalities of <br />Harrisburg, Mount Pleasant and Midland if those jurisdictions choose to <br />participate in the program. <br /> <br /> At 7:20 p.m., Chairmaq Freeman opened the public hearing concerning the <br />CDBG Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program and asked if any one <br />wished to address the Board. The Public Hearing Notlce was published in THE <br />CHARLOTTE OBSERVER (Cabarrus Neighbors) on May 8 and May 11, 2003. <br /> <br /> <br />
