A_fterschool Program hours will be Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. 8:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. until 6 p.m. Full Day hours will be 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Elite Kids will be accepting at least 40 afterschool children during the school year and has a capacity of 75 school age children. The program is open to any child regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Each day children will enjoy enrichment activities where they will be provided with "hands-on" learning including science, self-esteem, diversity, dramatic arts, photography and foods and nutrition. Children will learn many life skills during afterschool time. By having choice centers, enrichment activities, outdoor play time, field trips, and cooperative games, children will learn teamwork, problem solving, cooperation, sharing, communication, planning and organizing skills, and self- motivational skills. 4-H clubs will also be a major part of their program. Elite afterschool will be working with children that are limited resource, ethnically diverse, and have special needs. Grant funds will serve at least 25 different families. Collaboration from many different agencies will be beneficial during this grant. Elite will work with the Division of Child Development for consultations with Licensing Consultant. Child Care t(esources will offer assistance in staff training as well as parent workshops and use of resource library for curriculum booklets. The NC Cooperative Extension Service will be available to assist with the grant by offering stafftraining, activities for,he children, consultations, grant management and 4-H resource library. & The following staff members are in place: Dee Almond, Elite Child Development Center Director, BSAC training, will complete her associates degre~ in Early Childhood, May 2003, 4 years experience.
