Staff is working with Iredell and Mecklenburg counties as well <br /> as several of the municipa :les and the North Carolina Wetlands Restoration Program to examine the <br /> Upper Rocky Privet and Ch rk Creek watersheds for potenual stream restoration projects and poten~al <br /> tools that could be implem~ ated to improve water quality ia the basin. <br />3. Stream Buffer Requiremea 3. The Zoning Ordinance (Chapter Four, Part II) requires stream buffers of <br /> between 50 to 120 feet ale all perennial streams. <br />4. Watershed Overlay Zone. ~e Zoning Ordinance (Chapter four, Part I) sets lower density and <br /> impervious coverage limits!within the watersheds of the County's water supply reservoirs. <br />5. The Adequate Public Facil~y Ordinance can be used to address water supply issues by hmiting new <br /> growth to a rate that can be mstained by current and planned water sources. See tab number 2 in your Planning, Environment <br /> & Transportation workbool~ for details. <br />2. Cabarms - Rowan MPO. T~is agency is responsible for transportation planning in the two county area <br /> and is participating in the d~velopment of a regional transportation model with the other MPO's in the <br /> Charlotte region. ! <br />3. Land Use and TransportatiOn Plans. Planning staff is responsible for developing the area plans that <br /> cover the unincorporated a~as as well as the county's smaller towns. Decisions regarding the location <br /> of various types of develol~ent and/or transportation facilities can have an impact on traffic <br /> congestion and air quality. ~ee tab number 13 in your Planning, Environment & Transportation <br /> workbook for details on the]area planning process. <br />4. Clean Cities program. A p/pgram administered by Centralina COG to promote the use of clean burner <br /> and renewable fuels. This ~rogram is funded thxough an EPA grant. <br /> <br />GARBAGE DISPOSAL <br /> <br />1. Solid Waste Plan. The Cot~nty periodically adopts a solid waste plan in accordance with state law. <br />2. Recycling and Household qazardous Waste. The county operates a Household Hazardous Waste <br /> facility. <br />3. Regulation of Landfills.
