Memorandum

To:

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

From:

Michael L. Murphy

Date: June 5, 2003

Subject: Department of Aging Caregiver Budget Amendment Request

Attached please find a Budget Amendment Request from the Department of Aging that will
appropriate Family Caregiver Support Program funding to expand a Caregiver Support Specialist
(#760401) position from a part-time to full time. This position is funded by an allocation from the
Older American Act by the Administration on Aging and the North Carolina Division of Aging. The
necessary revenues to sustain this position are included in the Department of Aging Budget Proposal
for FY'04.

Conversion of this position from part time to full time was approved by the county manager last
December and the attached budget amendment should have immediately followed. Through an
oversight it did not and I apologize.

Thank you for your continued support for Aging related services. Your time and consideration is
sincerely appreciated.
