C. <br />Program Description <br /> <br /> (Include for each program listed in DJJDP County Funding Plan) <br />Program #: 1 [] Prevention Program [] Intermediate/Community (Dispositional Options) <br />Program Title/Provider: <br /> <br />Teen Court. Sponsoring Agency, Cabarrus County Mediation Center. <br /> <br />Priorities Addressed. <br />L~st the priority (and other) risk factors or dispositional option(s) addressed by this program: <br /> <br />1) Family Management Problems: by addxessng ~ssues which occur between family members such as child/parent conflicts <br />and anger management. It is mandatory condition of teen court for the offfender to attend any counseling that the teen <br />court coordinator deems necessary. For issues between family members, the primary custodian is told that they must be <br />activley involved in counseling for the youngster to satisfy the requirements of Teen Court. 2) Drug and Alcohol Use: <br />There is a mandatory drug assessment and counseling for those offenders admitted for the offenses of possession of <br />marijuana and alcohol The goal is to provide youngsters in the 11-15 year-old age group intervention to prevent early <br />addiction. <br /> <br />Program Description. <br />Prowde a brief description of the program to be implemented ~n the county: <br /> <br />Teen court is designed as an alternative program for first admissions of certain misdemeanor offenses. The offender <br />partimpates in the Teen Court program rather than the Juvenile Court system. Teen Court requires the offender to take <br />responsibilty for his/her actions in order to be admitted ~nto the program.
