J~ne 16, 2003 Page 165 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to call the question. <br /> <br /> The motion by Commissioner Carpenter and seconded by Commissioner <br />Carruth to include a three-cent increase in the Harrisburg Fire District tax <br />rate (.0550 cents to .0850 cents) failed with Commissioners Carpenter and <br />Carruth voting for and Chairman Freeman, Vice Chairman Suggs and Commissioner <br />Privette voting against. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to call the question on the original <br />motion. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION by Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />with Commissioner Privette, Chairman Freeman and Vice Chairman Suggs voting <br />for and Commissioners Carruth and Carpenter voting against, the Board adopted <br />the following Cabarrus County Budget Ordinance Special Fire and Service <br />District Taxes Fund for Fiscal Year 2003-2004: <br /> <br /> Ordinance NO. 2003-07 <br /> CABARRUS COUiTrY BUDGET ORDINANCE <br />SPECIAL FIRE AND SERVICE DISTRICT TAXES FUND <br /> FISCAL YEAR 2003-2004 <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAIN-ED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County, North <br />Carolina: <br /> <br />Section I. <br /> <br />It is the intent of the Special Fire and Service District Taxes Fund to <br />provide necessary funds to local nonprofit volunteer fire departments in <br />unincorporated areas of Cabarrus County for the purpose of providing fire <br />protection. Upon recommendation from the local nonprofit volunteer fire <br />department and its appointed Fire con~uission, the Board of County <br />Commissioners does hereby levy the tax on Real, Personal and Public <br />Service property located in each specific designated fire or service <br />district. Such funds collected by the County Tax Collector are then <br />remitted to each fire department for the purpose of providing fire <br />protections to the specific taxed area. <br /> <br />Section II. <br /> <br />The following amounts are hereby appropriated in the Special Fire and <br />Service District Tax Fund to provide for the operation of rural volunteer <br />fire services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003 and ending June <br />30, 2004: <br /> <br />Fire Department Appropriation <br />Allen $ 116,539 <br />Cold Water 104,727 <br />Enochville 38,815 <br />Flowe's Store 99,983 <br />Georgeville 77,592 <br />Gold Hill 12,447 <br />Harrisburg 595,768 <br />Jackson Park 62,098 <br />Midland 207,459 <br />Mt.
