August 18, 2003 <br /> <br />Page 224 <br /> <br /> W~P~, the North Carolina Depart~nt of Transportation annually organizes <br />a fall state roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful roads in North <br />Carolina; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Fall 2003 LI~ER SWEEP roadside cleanup will take place <br />Septen~ber 13 - 28, 2003 and encourage civic and professional groups, churches, <br />schools, families, businesses and individual citizens to participate by <br />organizing cleanups in their communities; and <br /> <br /> W~P~, the LITER SWEEp cleanup will educate and encourage the children <br />of Ca~arrus County regarding the importance of a clean enviropment to the quality <br />of life for the citizens of this county; <br /> <br /> W~RE]~, the cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner <br />roadsides, emphasize the importance of not llttering, and encourage recycling of <br />solid wastes; and <br /> <br /> W~IERE~, the 2003 fall cleanup will celebrate the 15r~ anniversary of the <br />North Carolina Adopt-A-Highway program and the thousands of volunteers who <br />contribute their time and labor year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br /> <br /> NOW, ~{EREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim Septen~er 13 - 28, 2003, as ~LI~ER SWEEP- time in Cabar~us Colmty, and <br />urge all citizens to participate in making our roadsides clean and reducing and <br />recycling solid wastes. <br /> <br /> This the 18~ day of Auqust 2003. <br /> /s/ Robert M.
