August 11, 2003 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Page 218 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in recessed <br />session in the Multipurpose Room at the Cabarrus County G~ernmental Center <br />in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, August 11, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: Robert M. Freeman <br /> Vice Chairman: Richard D. Suggs <br /> Co~issioners: Carol}~n B. Carpenter <br /> Robert W. Carruth <br /> Coy C. Prlvette <br /> <br /> Also pre~ent were Mr. John D. Day, County Manager; Mr. Fletcher L. <br />Nartsell, Jr., County Attorney; and Mrs. Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to the <br />Board. <br /> <br /> Chai~ma~ Freeman called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Vice Chalz~nan <br />Suggs was not present for the beginning of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette gave the invocation. <br /> <br />2.(b)The following should be added at the end of the section: <br /> <br />"Final plans and specifications for the proposed convention <br />center and the Business Agreement between the CIT~ and the entity <br />selected to construct and/or operate the proposed convention <br />center must be agreed upon mutually by the City and the County." <br /> <br />Also, change the two references to ~seven (7) days" to read <br />~fourteen (14) days." <br /> <br />2. (a) Should be rewritten to reflect the B0C approval requirement <br /> described above, <br /> <br />3.c.(2) Strike the following: <br /> <br />~Elected City of Concord officials shall not be authorized to <br />vote on operational issues related to the Cabarrus Arena and <br />Events Center." <br /> <br />Add the following: <br />"(5) Lessee of the Convention Center, where the City of Concord <br />is the Lessor. Lessee shall pay to the Lessor the amount of $1 <br />per year for the term of the Agreement. <br />(6) Lessor of the Convention Center, where the Lessee is the <br />operator of the Convention Center and owner of the hotel <br />constructed adjacent to it." <br /> <br />Include the following two changes: <br />"-3,200 square feet of office and meeting space to be used and <br />controlled by the Authority in the proposed convention center. <br /> <br />4. Make the following change: <br /> <br />4.(a) Make the following changes: <br /> 1. "Ohe hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) :r~ual!l-, on or <br /> before June 30=h each year,.." <br /> <br /> <br />
