O. Box 707
Concord, NC 28026-0707

Dear Mr. Freeman and County Commissioners:

We want to thank you and thc Commissioners for the help that you have given us over
the past nine years in providing space and safety for our students. We are certain that this
school system would not have been able to have achieved the scores and graduation rates
that it has accomplished without the eight schools and renovations that you and the
community have helped make possible. We also want to sincerely thank you for the
opportunity to move into a new Education Center. The building speaks loudly for the
community and the value they place on education. With all of that being said, our
community continues to grow and place tremendous pressure on needed infrastructure to
accommodate that growth. The Commissioners and the Board of Education are in very
difficult positions as we continue to deal with increased needs for water, roads, fn'e,
police protection and schools. As you know, the school system's staffworks very closely
with the County staffin projecting growth figures for the next fifteen years. In looking at
just the next five years, we are going to be under tremendous pressure to provide
additional schools. We need to begin to purchase property in 2004 for additional schools
to be completed by 2009. We are asking that the County Commission work with the
Board of Education and our school staff to provide funding for five elementary schools,
one middle school, and one high school over the next five years.

Construction Start Opening Date Facility & Approximate Location
Date
Juiy 2004 Suly'~006 Harris Road Elementary/Middle School
Property
July 2004 July 2007 Hi~:~a School/Southwest Location
July 2005 Suly 2007 Elementary School/Northwest Location
· .
