242 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County <br />Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina on Monday., Uecember 17, 2001, <br />at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: Arne L. Fennel <br /> Vice Chairman: Robert W. Carruth <br /> Commissioners: Robert M. Freeman <br /> Coy C. Privette <br /> Richard D. Suggs <br /> <br /> Also present were Frank W. Clifton, Jr., County Manager; Fletcher L. <br />Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney; and Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to the Board. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> BOy Scout Troop '264 of Center United Methodist Church conducted the' <br />Flag Ceremony. Scouts participating in the ceremony were Lucas Davis, Trey <br />Cruse, Trevor Cruse and Matthew Hendrix. <br /> <br /> Reverend Greg Sloop of the South Concord Church of God gave the <br />invocation. <br /> <br />A~PROVAJ~ OR COI~/~EGTION OF ~fINUTES <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Com~aissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of November 5, <br />Nove~tber 19, and December 3, 2001 as written.' <br /> <br />RECOGNITIONS AND PP. ESENTATIONS <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel changed the order of the Agenda, placing Recognitions <br />and Presentations prior to Boar~ Organization. <br /> <br />Recognition of the First Assembly Christian School Lady Eagles <br />Team on Winning the N. C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Volleyball <br /> <br />Championship <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel recognized Lee Hunt, Coach of the First Asse~ly <br />Christian School Lady Eagles Volleyball Team, who introduced members of the <br />volleyball team and reviewed the team's accomplishments during its 2001 <br />season. The team won the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic <br />Association Volleyball Championship on October 27, 2001 and placed second in <br />national competition in Nove~er. Team members present for the meeting were <br />Lisa Murray, Casey Stapleton, Julie Fennel, ~nber Schrenkel, Ashley <br />McEachern, Cindy Hosack and Elizabeth Towery. Other me~3ers of the team <br />include Nicole Scheidt, Ashley Ballance and Tara Scheidt. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel presented the following Resolution to Coach Hunt and <br />the team members. <br /> Resolution No. 2001-35 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION HONORING THE <br />FIRST ASSEMBLY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL <br />LADY EAGLES <br /> <br /> .WHEREAS, the First' Assembly Christian School Volleyball Team, the "Lady <br /> Eagles," won the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association <br /> Volleyball Championship on October 27, 2001, defeating the volleyball team of <br /> Asheville School 30-10, 30-19, and 30-25; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State championship victory was the culmination of a highly <br /> successful 2001 volleyball season for the team which had an impressive record <br /> of 29-3; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles continued to demonstrate their superior <br /> playing skills at the National Association of Christian Athletes Tournament <br /> on November 2, 2001, in Dayton, Tennessee, finishing an outstanding second of <br /> the 23 participating teams; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the national tournament, the Lady Eagles also received the <br />-coveted "Best Sportsmanship Award", having been unanimously selected by the <br />coaches of the competing teams; and <br /> WHEREAS, the success of this amazing team, through their display of <br /> good sportsmanship, motivation and inspired team play, has brought tremendous <br /> <br /> <br />
