PRE VENTS PRO GRAM <br />SUPPORTIVE SERVICES POLICY <br /> <br />The PREVENTS program will utilize supportive services in cases where k is <br />determined necessary and where there are supportive services funds <br />available. The PREVENTS worker, with supervisory approval, will assess <br />and make the .determination as to the need and use of funds for this purpose. <br /> <br />Supportive services in the PREVENTS program consist of the following: <br /> <br />1. Linkages to community agencies that are identified as providers of <br /> supportive services. <br /> <br />¸2. <br /> <br />Transportation Assistance: This is limited, and is based on individual <br />needs of the customer. Transportation through the Cabarms County <br />Transportation (Dial-A-Ride) will be utilized wherever possible, prior to <br />using PREVENTS program funding. <br /> <br />Child Care assistance: Assistance the Cabarrus County Childcare <br />program will be the vehicle for this. Service will be based on eligibility <br />for childcare subsidy payments. <br /> <br />Work-related expenses: Whenever possible, Work First Block Grant <br />funds will be used. If not eligible for this, PREVENTS program funds <br />can be utilized, but normally at no more than $150.00 per customer on a <br />one time only basis. This can consist of anything that a customer may <br />need to secure a job: uniform, shoes, tools, gloves, protective eyeglasses, <br />etc. <br /> <br />Assistance with utilities and housing costs when appropriate. The limits <br />make this supplemental, but through the linkages with other agencies, <br />assistance can be provided. <br /> <br /> <br />
