Marshall, Planning Services Director <br /> <br />DATE: May 14, 2002 <br /> <br />REF: Cabarrus/Mecklenburg County Line <br /> <br />CC: Frank Clifton <br /> Fletcher Hartsell <br /> <br />Cabarrus County and Mecklenburg County staffs have been working since last year to <br />determine the correct, location for the County Line. Staff from both counties has <br />included G:[S mappers, Land Records mappers, Tax Administrators and Planners. These <br />staff members 'used historical record, the re-survey commissioned by the State, deed <br />and land records, and instructions from the Boards of Commissioners to determine the <br />location Of the line. <br /> <br />A public meeting is being held by Cabarrus and Mecklenburg staffs on Wednesday, May <br />:L5th to permit public review and comment on the line as proposed. Any changes <br />resulting from those meetings will be discussed at the Board of commissioners meeting. <br /> <br />The process to approve the County Line will include the following steps: <br /> <br />1) Public hearing befOre the Board of Commissioners. <br />2) Adoption of the attached resolution accepting the line. <br /> <br />3) Re-survey of the line as determined and accepted. <br />4) Monumentation, mapping, and description of the County Line. <br />5) Review and acceptance of the maps depicting the new line by the Board of <br /> Commissioners. <br />6) Recordation of the maps showing the County Line in the Register of Deeds. <br />7) Ratification of the County Line by the State Legislature. <br /> <br />If you have any questions concerning any part of this process please do not hesitate to <br />call me at (704) 920-2141 or e-mail jbmarshall@co.cabarrus.nc.us. <br /> <br /> Planning Services Department <br /> P.O.
