CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Cabarms wishes to join with the National Safety Council in <br />the annual observance of National Safety Month during June, 2002; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the theme for this observance is "Prepare Today." This theme draws <br />attention to raising safety awareness in regards to home, community, and workplace safety. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, each week during the month, a different area of safety awareness will be <br />emphasized: <br /> <br />· June 2-8 <br />· June 9-15 <br />· June 16-22 <br />· June 23-29 <br /> <br />Teen Driving & Child Safety Seat Week <br />Preventing Falls in the Home Week <br />Individual & Organizational Emergency Preparedness Week <br />Workplace Safety Week <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, accidents and incidents which occur as a result of unsafe acts and <br />conditions in the US disrupt thousands of lives each year, and according to statistics provided by <br />the National Safety Council, American Society of Safety Engineers, and other safety <br />organizations, there is a direct relationship between increased safety awareness and reduced <br />accident & incident rates. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Cabarms County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim the month of June as National Safety Month in Cabarrus County and: <br /> <br />· Urge every individual to take extra precautions and become more safety conscious <br /> every day; <br />· Direct that a link be added to the county's webpage that provides a link to safety tips <br /> and suggestions in keeping with each week's focus; and, <br />· That organizations throughout our county take extra measures during the month of <br /> June to promote safety among their members and benefactors. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 20th day of May, 2002. <br /> <br />Robert M.
