MEMO

To;

Cabarms County Manager
Cabarms County Deputy Manager
Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

From:

Steve Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks & Recreation Department

Re;

Request for Board Approval of Attached Grant

Date: June 10, 2002

I would like to submit the attached Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant application for your
consideration and approval.

Major League Baseball has grant money available to local non-profit organizations that
promote and enhance the growth of baseball in the United States by funding new and
existing programs and field construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for our department to apply for funds that will assist us in
future construction of new ballfields at the 3 new school sites. Total requested amount is
$1.5 million ( $500,000 for each of the 3 school sites - CC Griffin Middle, Harris Rd.
Middle, and Cox Rd Elementary). There is no county matching money needed for this
grant application.

Thank you.
