On March 5, 2002, while in the performance of his duties, Surveillance Officer Pat Moore went
to the home of offender Roger Sehom at approximately 9:15 p.m. to do a curfew check. Upon
going to the front dom:, Mr. Moore noticed the offender sleeping on the couch in the living room.
Mr. Moore knocked on the door several times trying to get a response from the offender. Mr. ·
Moore called out his name and also said "Probation Officer" and knocked louder. This went on
for several minutes when suddenly Mr. Sehorn awoke and hurriedly walked past the front door.
Surveillance Officer Moore stepped to the side of the door while still calling out "Probation
Officer." Surveillance Officer Moore did not hear the offender come to the door but heard what
sounded like a gunshot and at the same time, felt a breeze that went by his left leg. Mr. Moore
looked at the door at what appeared to be a bullet hole in the lower portion of the door. At this
point, as the door was opening, Surveillance Officer Moore grabbed the knob and yelled, "This is
your probation officer." Mr. Sehorn 'yelled out, "I didn't know it was you Pat. I thought
someone was trying to break into the house." The door stopped moving and was opened slightly.
Mr. Moore observed the probationer holding a rifle by his right leg, pointed toward the ground.
With his left hand, Mr. Moore reached in and grabbed the rifle. Mr. 'Moore did not pull his
weapon. For his own personal safety, Mr. Moore placed the defendant in handcuffs and
contacted the Concord Police Department. Mr. Sehom was arrested and charged with Assault
With a Deadly Weapon on a Law Enforcement Officer. He was taken to the Concord Police
Department for processing. The case is still currently pending in Superior Court.
