The mission of the Community Service Work Program (CSWP) is to serve the citizens of North
Carolina by developing, promoting, and managing court Ordered community service.

The Community Service Work Program is an alternative sentencing program designed for
offenders (both on supervised and unsupervised probation) to repay the community for damages
resulting from criminal acts. These offenders use their skills and abilities to successfully
perform free work for public and non-profit agencies.

Effective January 1, 2002, a legislative mandate moved the CSWP from the Department of
Crime Control and Public Safety to the Department of Correction.

Three (3) Community Service Coordinators (caseworkers) handle all community service needs
within Judicial District 19A (Cabarrus County).
