Freeman, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Table 10-6 (Off-Street Vehicular Parking Space Requirements) as amended is on <br />file in the County Manager's Office and included by reference as a part of <br />the minutes. <br /> <br />(F-3) Cabarru, County Hazard Mitigation Plan - Public Hearing - 6,30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Ms. Nicole Storey, Planner, presented the proposed Cabarrus County <br />Hazard Mitigation Plan that establishes hazard mitigation practices for <br />Cabarrus County and its participating jurisdictions as required by the State <br />of North Carolina and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The towns of <br />Harrisburg, Mt. Pleasant and Midland have approved the Plan for their <br />jurisdictions. The municipalities of Concord and Kannapolis will develop <br />their individual plans. Adoption of the Plan will enable Cabarrus County <br />residents and municipalities to apply for relief funding as a result of a <br />natural disaster. <br /> <br /> At ?:38 p.m.., Chairman Freeman opened the public hearing on the <br />proposed Hazard Mitigation Plan and asked if anyone wished to address the <br />Board regarding the proposed Plan. The Public Hearing Notice was published <br />in THE INDEPENDENT TRIBUNE on August 8 and August 18, 2002. <br /> <br /> There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Freeman <br />closed the Public Hearing. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the Cabarrus County Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan as submitted. <br /> <br /> The Hazard Mitigation Plan as adopted by the Hoard is on file in the <br />County Manager's Office and included By reference as a part of the minutes. <br /> <br />(F-4) Fire Prevention and Protection <br /> <br />(F-da)Ordinance Amending Chapter 34 (Firm Prevention and Protection) of the <br />Code of Ordinances <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Downs, Public Safety Services Director, presented the proposed <br />amendments to Chapter 34 (Fire Prevention and Protection) of the Code of <br />Ordinances. He stated the proposed amendments reflect the organizational <br />changes within Cabarrus County Government. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Ordinance. <br /> <br />Ordinance NO. 2002-03 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 <br /> (FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION) <br /> OF THE <br />CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Cabarru. County Board of Commissioners that Chapter 34, <br />Fire Prevention and Protection, of the Code of Ordinances~ Cabarrus County~ <br />North Carolina, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE I. IN GENEP. AL <br /> <br />Sets. 34-1--34-2S. Reserved. <br /> <br />ARTICLE II. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FIRE DEPARTMENTS <br /> <br />Sec. 34-26. Offered to qualified departments. <br /> <br /> The county will offer financial assistance for the maintenance and <br />operation of any volunteer fire department of a fire district qualifying for <br />financial assistance under the terms of this article in an amount determined <br />by the county manager, consistent with the policies of the Board of <br />commissioners, no= to exceed $3,000.00 per year, and by revenue collected <br />from the fire district tax, provided a tax district has been established in <br />accordance with O.S. 69-25.1 e= seq. for the area served. <br /> <br /> <br />
