BE IT ORDAINED that Chapter 10 of the Cabarrus County North Carolina <br />Code of Ordinances is amended as follows: <br /> <br />Add the following: <br /> <br />Sec. 10-11 Sale and Adoption <br /> Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, impounded animals shall not be <br />sold to or adopted by anyone who intends to use them or sell them for research, <br />experimentation or vivisection <br /> <br />Sec. 10-123. Redemption by owner generally. <br /> <br />Strike the last sentence as indicated: <br /> <br /> (a) If an impounded animal is not redeemed by <br />the owner within the period prescribed in section <br />10-122, it may be destroyed in a humane manner <br />or shall become the property of the animal shelters <br />.and offered for adoption to any responsible <br />adult who is willing to comply with this chapter. <br />It is recommended that cylinder carbon monoxide <br />gas rather than engine-produced carbon monoxide <br />gas be used in the destruction of unclaimed <br />animals.
