Effective November 1,2002, each county will have
additional slots to increase their caseload. The additional slots are to be used for nursing
home patients who meet the special criteria outlined in the Administrative Letter No.10-03
as well as for people on your waiting lists who meet eligibility criteria for CAP/DA. When
you have filled your new slots and do not have replacement slots available for nursing
home patients who meet CAP/DA eligibility requirements and other specific criteria and
procedures defined in the DMA Administrative Letter 10-03, you should call your CAP
Consultant who will approve additional slots. All slots are replaceable.

Please take special note that those nursing home patients approved for CAP/DA prior to
November 1 are also replaceable when they leave CAP/DA. This is a change in the
procedure indicated in the previous Administrative Letter No. 10-03.

Please remember that the CAP/DA unit continues to control FL-2 submissions to EDS for
CAP/DA Prior Approval'.

The slots included on the following chart will bring your caseloads back to about 73% of
the size they were before the CAP/DA freeze was imposed in October 2001.

If you have any questions regarding information in this letter, please do not hesitate to
contact the CAP Consultant assigned to your county or Mary Jo Littlewood, CAP Manager,
at 919-857-4021.

Nina M.
