Cabarrus County News Release
Stephen Lipscomb, Public Information Coordinator
(704) 920-2335
se li pscorn b(~,,co.cabarrus, nc. us
Monday, December 09, 2002

Free Debris disposal at the Cabarrus County Landfill

Because of the extensive damage following the most recent winter storm, the Cabarrus
County Landfill will accept yard debris at no charge to residents for the next two weeks The
th rd
free disposal of yard debris runs from December 6 until Monday December23 .

Tree limbs, shrubs and other types of foliage damaged in the storm may be taken to the
Cabarms County Landfill between: 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, and 8am to 2pm
on Saturdays. It is located at 4441 Irish Potato Road, between Old Salisbury road and Gold
Hill road in Concord.

Cabarms County Commission Chair Robert M. Freeman says, "Our citizens are experiencing
an extreme hardship at this time. Many folks have lost their jobs to plant and business
closings recently, and others are working a reduced number of hours. And all of that is added
at a time of year that's economically stressful anyway. Now this storm has just dealt a
devastating blow to everyone in the County. We want to provide this service to help with
clean up and not place our citizens under an even greater financial burden."

The fee waiver applies to all residents, but will also cover contractors hired by residents to
haul away debris. Freeman adds, "We want to lend support to anyone that takes time and
energy to help the county get back to normal."
