Ordinance No. 2002- ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 (FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION) OF THE CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES BE IT ORDAINED by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners that Chapter 34, Section 26, 27 and 30, Fire Prevention and Protection, of the Code of Ordinances, Cabarrus County, North Carotina, is hereby amended to read as fo[tows: ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL Secs. 34-1--34-25. Reserved. ARTICLE II. ~-~WAA~LASSISTANCE TO FIRE DEPARTMENTS Sec. 34-26. ~ Provided to qualified departments. The county will cffcr provide financial assistance for the maintenance and operation of any volunteer fire department of a fire district q".'.al i fyin~ ycar, an~ by revenue collected from the fire district tax, provided a tax district has been established in accordance with G,S. 69-25.1 et seq. for the area served. A fire department dcsirin~ financial receiving assistance under this article shall file a budget with the fire marshal of the county by April 1 each year for the following fiscal year. Each fire department desiring to qualify for the financial assistance provided for under this article shall meet the following minimum standards: (1) The fire department shall be incorporated as a nonprofit corporation under state law. A copy of the.department's charter and current bylaws shall be on file in the fire marshal's office. (2) Elections of at least a portion of the board of directors for the incorporated fire department shall be held at least every year by the voting membership of the corporation.
