UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following officers for 2000- <br />2001 for the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council ss requested by the Council= <br />Dr. William F. Pilkington, Chairman; Susan Smith - Vice Chairman; and Wes <br />Seamen - Secretax~. <br /> <br />Piedmont Area Nental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Authorit~ <br /> <br /> The Board deferred the appointment to ~ill =he vacancy on the Piedmont <br />Area Mental Health, Mental Hetardation and-Substance Abuse Authority created <br />By the resignation of Ms. Tans Hartsel~'. Vice Chaiz~uan Carruth, the <br />Commissioner member on the Authority, will make 'a recouunendation for this <br />appointment at the Januar~ meeting. <br /> <br /> UPON ~OTiON of Chairman Fennel, seconded By Vice Chairman carruth and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board waived the length of service provision of the <br /> County's Appointnu~nt Policy and reappointed Ms. Katie Foster to the ~ult <br /> Care Home Coramunity 7~visory Corm~ittee for a third t~uree-year term ending <br /> Deceraber 31, 2003. ~rther, the Board reappointed Ms. Claire Behrens-McGuire <br /> to the advisory conumittee for s term of three years ending December 31, 2003. <br /> <br /> UPON NOTION of Chaiz~mn Fennel, seconded by Con~iseioner Privetto and <br /> unani~usly carried the Board appointe~ MU. Joseph C. Belch to the Adult Care <br />· Home Community Advisory Committee for an initial term of one year ending <br /> December 31, 2001. <br /> <br /> Chaizman Fennel opened the meeting for Informal public Comments at 8:53 <br />p.m. <br /> <br /> There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Fennel <br />closed that portion of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Suggs commented on the work of the Board and its ability <br />to work through the various and controversial issues that it will consider <br />during the upcomuLng year. <br /> <br /> C~haiz~uan Feruxel addressed the issue of ~disagreements" by Board <br />members. He stated it was i~ortant for the Board to fully discuss all issues <br />in order to ensure it reaches the best solution. <br /> <br /> The Board extended holiday greetings to the citizens of Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> <br /> The following reports were included as a part of the Agenda: (1) Local <br />Sales and Use Tax Update; (2) North Carolina Municipal Council Repaint and <br />Hating on Cabarrus County; (3) Centralina Board of Delegates Meeting - <br />January 10, 2001; (4) Announcement of' Time Warner Cable's New Rates and <br />Services for 2001; (5) Announcement of BFI Rate increase fo~ 2001~ and (6) <br />3000 Holiday Tree Decorating Contest winners. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Fennel <br />adjourned the meeting. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
