Canaday, Sheriff ~anuaryl2,2001 Mr. Frank Clif~on County Manager Cabarrus County Dear Mr. Clifton: Please find attached copies of the Organizational Structure plans we have been discussing. One set is the current structure and the other represents the proposed re- structure organization chart. For some time t have felt the need to make the changes outlined but having in mind my retirement I waited until a successor could be chosen to consult with me on these changes. Brad Riley has been fully involved in this decision and agrees wholeheartedly that the re-structure is warranted at this time. As discussed we will be creating a new Captain's slot as well as two additional Sergeants positions for the communications division. These changes will be made without adding personnel at this time. In essence we will be reclassifying one current position to a captains position and two current positions to sergeant p0~itions. We do plan to request one (1) additional officer for communications in the coming. budget. (This will be down from Lt. Patterson's request of 4 new personnel he has submitted to me). These changes will provide opportunities for better line supervision within the communications division and will enhance the capabilities of the two current captains because some of their work load will be moved to the new captain. It'wili also allow the new captain over the communications division to handle a lot of the work cu, rently placed on the Lieutenant without having to deal with the daily personnel supervision in that division. Currently the Communications Lieutenant, in addition to daily personnel supervision, serves as the department grm~t writer and monitor, E911 coordinator county wide, E911 RO. BOX 525 25 CORBAN AVE.
