U~ON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Prtvette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adop=ed the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2000-30 <br /> RESOLUTION BY <br />CABA~RUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> ~HEP. EAS 0 Lead Regional Organizations have established productive <br /> voluntary working relationships wi~h municipalities and counties across North <br /> Carolina; and <br /> W~EREA~, the 1999 ~eneral Assembly ~ecognized this need through the <br /> appropriation of $900,000 for each year of the biennium to help the Lead <br /> Regional 0rganizations assist local governments with grant applications, <br /> economic development, community development, and to support local industrial <br /> developmsnt activities and other activities aa deemed appropriate by their <br /> local governments; and <br /> WkU~,AS, these funds are not intended to be used for payment of member <br /> dues or assessments to a Lead Regional 0r~anization or to supplant funds <br /> appropriated by the member governments; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the event that a request is mot made by Cabarrue for <br /> release of these funds to the Lead Regional Organization, the available funds <br /> will revert to State's general fund; and <br /> WHEREA~, in Region F, funds in ~he amount of .$55,000 will be used <br /> =o/for preparation of HONE and CDB~ ap~Iicetions, land use corridor studies, <br /> hosting of regional eenkinars/conferencee, r~gional data center, regional <br /> building per, nit tracking system, and other economic development activities <br />· that may deem appropriate; <br /> NOW, THRRBFOP. Into Agreement with the North Carolina Department ct <br /> Transportation and to Provide the Necessary Assurances <br /> <br />A motion was mad~ by Chairman Fennel and seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />for the adoption of ~he following resolution, and upon being put to'a vote <br />was duly adopted. <br /> <br />WH~PJ~, lrtlcle 2B of Chapter 136 of the North Carolina ~eneral <br />Statutes and the ~er~or of North Carolina have designated the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT} as the agency <br />responsible for administering federal and State publ£c <br />transportation funds; and <br /> <br />WHI~.EAS, the North Carolina Department o~. Transportation will <br />apply for a grant from the US Department of Transportation, <br />Federal Transit Adm/nietration, and receives funds from the North <br />Carolina ~eneral Assembly to provide assistance £or rural public <br />transpor~ation proJec=s; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of =hess transportation funds is to provide <br />grant monies to local agencies for the provision of rural public <br />transportation services consistent with the policy requirements <br />for plaruling, conununity and agency involvement, service design, <br />service alternatives, 2raining and conference participation, <br />reporting and other recluirements (drug and alcohol testing policy <br />and program, cLtsadvantaged business enterprise program, and fully <br />allocated coats analysis); <br /> <br /> <br />
