Jeff Barnhar~ asked me to email you to see if you would be interested in passing a similar resolution for Cabarrus <br />County to the House and Senate. <br /> <br />Please email back a response. The resolution is as follows: <br /> <br />Resolution for Voter Identification <br />at all Polling Places in North Carolina <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, public confidence in our process of elections is indispensable, <br /> <br /> and a lack of voter confidence creates cynicism, voter apathy, and undermines the <br /> <br />civility of government; and, <br /> WHEREAS, each citizen is guaranteed equal protection under the law <br />and has ever~ right to believe that his or her vote is equal to anyone else's; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, convenience in voting can improve the enfranchisement of <br /> <br />all the electorate, but convenience should not cause danger to the integrity of the election process; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Henderson County Board of Commissioners seeks to protect the integrity of the <br /> <br />election process and the validity of each citizen's vote. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Henderson County Board of Commissioners endorses unanimously, <br />and without reservation, legislation requiring voter identification at all polling places in North Carolina. <br /> <br /> Thank You, <br /> <br /> Melanie McNeely, LA <br /> Rep.
