MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF CONCORD, TI-II~, CITY OF KANNAPOLIS, THE <br />TOWN OF HARRISBURG, THE TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT AND <br />CABARRUS COUNTY REGARDING PROCEDURES FOR REVIEWING AND <br />AMENDING THE UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE <br /> <br />Whereas, Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, the City of Kannapolis, the Town of <br />Harrisburg, and the Town of Mount Pleasant, are experiencing rapid growth as part of the <br />Charlotte metropolitan region; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the elected officials of Cabarms County, the City of Concord, the City of <br />Kannapolis, the Town of Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant recognized the <br />need for an up-to-date, standardized and consistent code of land development regulations <br />for use in managing growth throughout the local government jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the professional staffs of Cabarms County, the City of Concord, the City of <br />Kannapolis, the Town of Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant have cooperatively <br />prepared a Unified Development Ordinance to serve as that land development code; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the elected officials of Cabarms County, the City of Concord, the City of <br />Kannapolis, the Town of Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant appointed a <br />Steering Committee to work with the professional staffs and oversee the preparation of <br />the Unified Development Ordinance and make reeommendadons to the planning boards <br />and the elected officials; and <br /> <br />Whereas, citizens and representatives of the building and development industry of <br />Cabarms County, the City of Concord, the City of Kaunapolis, the Town of Harrisburg <br />and the Town of Mount Pleasant have participated with the staffs and the Steering <br />Committee in the preparation of the Unified Development Ordinance; and <br /> <br />Whereas, it is recognized by all those who have participated in the preparation of the <br />Unified Development Ordinance that there is a need to provide for coordinated and <br />cooperative evaluation and amendment after its adoption and the Steering Committee <br />recommends such to the elected officials of Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, the <br />City of KannapOlis, the Town of Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD by the elected <br />officials of Cabarms County, the City of Concord, the City of Kaunapolis, the Town of <br />Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant that: <br /> <br />Following adoption of the Unified Development Ordinance, there will be a quarterly <br />series of status and. evaluation reports regarding the UDO presented to the Steering <br />Committee, the planning boards and the elected officials; and <br /> <br /> <br />
