IAS RUSCOU

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

John Day, Deputy County Manager

Ron Harwood, Cabarrus EMS Director

April 26, 2001

SUBJECT: Surplus ambulance

After discussion with Doug Biggerstaft~ Chief, Cabarrus Rescue, on the condition of one
of their vehicles, a 1974 ambulance in pretty much unrepairable condition, I feel like we
probably should transfer our first available surplus ambulance to them. (Even though
Cold Water VFD asked first) This vehicle covers the southern part of Cabarms County.

He stated if the vehicle isn't replaced soon, their ability to provide adequate back-up
support for us will be ~educed.

We will be replacing another ambulance sometime around December of this year or
January 2002.

I would recommend that this one be transferred to Cold Water Fire Department.

Additionally, Doug has asked about our old 902 vehicle, a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria for
use by Cabarms Rescue. The vehicle has been out of our inventory since September of
last year.

If it's not being used by any other county agency, I don't object to transferring it to them.

Thanks again for your assistance in providing supportive use of our surplus vehicles.

.... ~. ~.~c? ~edl,2at Services
Drive o Concord, NC 28027 ~ (704) 920-2500
