Resolution No. 2001- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO ABOLISH THE POPLAR TENT FIRE TAX DISTRICT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County, in accordance with General Statute 153A-233, provides <br />for the fire protection of its citizens by contracting with rural fire departments to operate <br />within its established fire taxing districts. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County has contracted with the Poplar Tent Volunteer Fire <br />Department to provide for the fire protection of the citizens of the Poplar Tent Fire <br />District. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to recent annexations of the City of Concord and the City of <br />Kannapolis, the Poplar Tent Fire Tax District no longer has any areas that are not within <br />a corporate city limit. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, General Statute 153A-306 states that upon finding that there is no longer a <br />need for a particular service district and that there are no outstanding bonds or notes <br />issued to finance projects in the district, the board of commissioners may by resolution <br />abolish that district. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS, the Poplar Tent Fire Tax <br />District be abolished and that the fire protection be provided for in this area by the City of <br />Concord and the City of Kannapolis according to newly established corporate boundaries. <br /> <br />This resolution will become effective as of this day, June 30, 2002. <br /> <br />Signed: <br /> <br />Arne Fennel, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Attested: <br /> <br />Frankie F.
