Statistical Information

So far this year we have placed approximately 430 traps. In some cases we
become overwhelmed by the requests for traps and find ourselves not having enough
traps to supply the demand from the public. The traps remain on the owner's property
until the nuisance is abated.

1999 2000 2001'
Dogs Pickup 3,122 2,801 1,592
Cats Pickup 2,294 2,534" 1,107
Cats to Humane Society 165 196 118
Dogs to Humane Society 231 239 178
Cats Euthanized 2,106 2,315 1,440
Dogs Euthanized 2,401 2,102 233
Cats Reclaimed 23 23 13
Dogs Reclaimed 490 460 233
Other Animals Pickup 157 101 69

'2001 statistics are from 01/01/2000 to 08/01./2001

As you can see from the above statistical data for the last three years, Cabarrus County
has a large number of animals that roam free and have been either captured, surrendered~
or abandoned by the owner. The humane society has done their best to assist our division
in placing the animals in good homes by either adoption or fostering any unwanted
animals from the shelter, but there is a greater supply of animals than there are people
willing to adopt or foster these unwanted animals.
