RESOLUTION <br />HONORING THE MEMORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS <br />OF <br /> BENJAMIN F. MYNATT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County lost an outstanding citizen on September 9, 2001; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Benjamin F. Mynatt, a native of Morristown, Tennessee, moved to Cabarrus <br />County with his wife and two children in 1976 and began a productive career serving others through <br />numerous business, education and civic endeavors; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ben Mynatt was a highly successful retail automobile businessman who was <br />recognized numerous times throughout the years by his peers, receiving the North Carolina Automobile <br />Dealer Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Mynatt was an active participant in many civic affairs and projects, having <br />held leadership roles on the boards of many organizations in the community, including but not limited to, <br />Cabarrus County Boys and Girls Club, Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Cabarrus County <br />United Negro College Fund, Concord-Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the <br />Carolinas, Concord Rotary Club and Optimist International, and earning the designation of"Citizen of the <br />Year" in 2000 by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ben Mynatt was a strong supporter of education, serving as a Cabarrus member of <br />the Board of Trustees for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College from 1989 to 2000, and providing <br />outstanding leadership in the development of the two-county, regional community college; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Mynatt contributed greatly to the growth and progress of Cabarrus County and <br />earned the respect and affection of everyone who was privileged to know him, having been known fondly <br />throughout the community as "Gentle Ben." <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby pay tribute to <br /> <br />BENJAMIN F. MYNATT <br /> <br />a valued citizen who worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in Concord, Cabarrus County and <br />beyond. We call upon all citizens of Cabarrus County to remember the extraordinary contributions he <br />made in this community. <br /> <br />This the 22~a day of October, 2001. <br /> <br />Arne L.
