207 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session in the Conunissioners' Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County <br />Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, October 22, 2001, <br />at 6:30 p.m. By resolution adopted on Septe~er 17, 2001, the Board had <br />changed the regular meeting date from October 15 to October 22. The Notice of <br />the change in the meeting date was published on September 27, 2001, in THE <br />INDEPENDENT TRIBUNE and in THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER (Cabarrus Neighbors). <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: Arne L. Fennel <br /> Vice Chairman: Robert W. Carruth <br /> Commissioners: Robert M. Freeman <br /> Coy C. Privette <br /> Richard D. Suggs <br /> <br /> Also present were Mr. Frank W. Clifton, Jr., County Manager; Mr. <br />Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney; and Mrs. Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk <br />to the Board. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> Girl Scout Troop 423 of Harrisburg United Methodist Church conducted <br />the Flag Ceremony. Scouts participating in the ceremony were Caitlin <br />Goforth, Bethaqey Wells, Monica Ferris, Brittney Foster and Meghan Kurzel. <br /> <br /> Dr. Mark J. Ericson of St. John's Lutheram Church gave the invocation. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OR COP~EOTION OF ~INUTES <br /> <br /> UPON }4OTION Of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of September 17, 2001 <br />as written. <br /> <br />P~COGNITIONS <br /> <br />Resolution Honorinq the Memor~ and Achievements of Ben <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel cor~nented on the life of Mr. Ben Mynatt and his many <br />contributions to the community. He recognized Mrs. Grace Mynatt, Mr. Richard <br />Mynatt and Ms. Cyndie Mynatt who were present for the meeting. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette read the following Resolution into the record and <br />presented the signed Resolution to the Mynatt family. <br /> <br />Resolution NO. 2001-30 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br />HONORING THE MEMORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS <br />OF <br /> BENJAMIN F. MYNATT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County lost an outstanding citizen on September 9, <br />2001; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Benjamin F. Mynatt, a native Of Morristown, Tennessee, moved to <br />Cabarrus County with his wife and two children in 1976 and began a productive <br />career serving others through numerous business, education and civic <br />endeavors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ben Mynatt was a highly successful retail automobile. <br />businessman who was recognized numerous times throughout the years by his <br />peers, receiving the North Carolina Automobile Dealer Association's Lifetime <br />Achievement Award in 2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Mynatt was an active participant in many c%vic affairs and <br />projects, having held leadership roles on the boards of many organizations in <br />the community, including but not limited to, Cabarrus County Boys and Girls <br />Club, Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Cabarrus County United Negro <br />College Fund, Concord-Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the <br />CaroliDas, Concord Rotary Club and Optimist International, and earning the <br />designation of "Citizen of the Year" in 2000 by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber <br />of Commerce; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ben Mynatt was a strong supporter of education, serving as a <br />Cabarrus member of the Board of Trustees for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College <br /> <br /> <br />
