Resolution No. 2001 - <br />CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br />COMMENDING <br />CONGRESSMAN ROBIN HAYES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Congressman Robin Hayes has effectively represented the interests <br />of the eighth congressional district of North Carolina for a number of years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Congressman Hayes has voted against legislation that would <br />adversely impact businesses operations in Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Congressman Hayes has sought to retain and expand local textile <br />jobs within the Cabarrus region by advocating for more equitable trade regulations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the President of the United States, George W. Bush, agreed to <br />correct the Trade and Development Act of 2001 so as to require that U.S. knit and woven <br />fabrics be required to undergo all dyeing, finishing, and printing procedures in the United <br />States in order to qualify for the benefits under the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership <br />Act; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the President assured Congressman Hayes that he would work to <br />broaden the U.S. textile market, and protect that market in future textile agreements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Congressman Hayes cast the deciding vote in the Trade Promotion <br />Authority Bill on December 6, 200t. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners that Congressman Robin Hayes be commended for his work on behalf of <br />the citizens, employers, and workers of the Cabarms region, and for his tireless efforts to <br />retain and expand textile jobs within North Carolina. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 17th day of December, 2001. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Chairman, Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
