ICABARRUSCOUN171 MEMORANDUM December Consent Agenda To: Board of Commissioners Date: December 11, 2001 Re: Expo Contract Revisions Attached is a summary of contract revisions with Matthews Construction seeking adjustments for removal of bad soils within the site. Change order #7 was the result of the Board's action to approve relocation of the Exhibit Building to a location closer to the Main Building and associated parking. Change orders 1, 9, 14 and 18 all deal with unacceptable soils. These soils were removed and relocated to the front (along Hwy. 49) open areas that will serve as overflow parking. (If any structure or permanent parking is placed [paved] in that area, the soils will have to be removed. This area will also be impacted by the widening of Hwy, 49,) Replacement soils were taken from other areas of the site. The total amount of the contract revision with Matthews is available within the current project budget. There are some smaller contract revisions with Matthews that will also come to the Board at a later date once final details are resolved. These will be specific items previously addressed inclusive of a fire pump system and generator (required by the City of Concord), arena acoustical treatments, site lighting, business office upfit, midway entry, maintenance building, landscaping, signage, port-a-floor and special dirt for the arena floor area. To keep the project on schedule (ready for use September 2002), the contractor was authorized to proceed. All quantities regarding soil removal/replacement have been verified by the County's soil consultant on the site. Board approval of these contract revisions is requested.
