WORK PROGRAM FOR USE OF STATE APPROPRIATION TO <br /> CENTRALINA COUNCH, OF GOVERNMENTS <br /> TO ASSIST LOCAl, GOVERNMENTS <br /> FY 2001-2002 <br /> <br />Centraiina's Data Center maintains a depository library of Census and other <br />demographic and economic data available for use and distribution to the public and <br />private sectors. In its role as the Lead Regional Organization and affiliate to the NC <br />State Data Center, Centralina's Data Center collects and disseminates data from a <br />variety of sources, including the US Bureau of the Census, North Carolina <br />Employment Security Commission, IqC Department of Public Instruction, US <br />Department of Labor, NC Department of Revenue, Federal Reserve Board, and other <br />various state and federal agencies. The data is dispersed through standardized reports <br />developed by Centralina, and through client-driven specialized reports. The merging of <br />Centralina's Data Center and GIS Mapping into an Information Services Division <br />allows Centralina to respond to the needs of economic development corporations <br />through the development of customized databases and graphic display of select <br />statistical indicators. Information Services is also able to respond to private sector <br />needs through developing statistical profiles of customer-defined market areas (i.e. <br />radius studies). <br /> <br />Funds will be used to conduct quarterly meetings of the region's planning officials. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to write HOME Single Family Rehabilitation and/or Community <br />Development Block Grant applications for member governments. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to assist with the establishment of transportation initiatives. <br /> <br />Funds are to be used to oversee and. monitor a series of land use studies along five <br />major corridors in the Charlotte region. These studies are being developed by the <br />Urban Land Institute, a national recognized land use consulting organization. <br /> <br />Funds are to be used to assist with the establishment of Ixansportation initiatives. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to promote Smart Growth planning principles in the region through <br />meetings, workshops, and presentations. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to help make preparations for a Statewide Planners' Conference to <br />be held in New Bern in May 2002. <br /> <br /> <br />
