January 3, 2000

To Whom It May Concern:

Workforce Development issues in Cabarrus County are very significant. Many
companies are straggling with finding qualified workers while others are having trouble
maintaining employees! Working together, we can begin to provide solutions for these
pressing matters.

From Career Awareness to Career Exploration in classrooms to continuing education and
specific skill training in the workplace, workforce development is the responsibility of all
people, all agencies, and all entities. With the start ora new century, one of the most
effective ways to get everyone involved is by letting others know what is happening. By
your support of a Workforce Development Week 2000, citizens of the Cabarrus Region
will begin to realize the significance of a strong and able workforce for the new
millennium.

Attached is a Proclamation for Workforce Development Week 2000 1 would like you to
recognize. Please also consider support for the individual activities that will be taking
place the week of January 29 through February 4, 2000. Your attendance would be much
appreciated, as well as provide an excellent role model for the young people who will be
taking part. Please also contact me at 704-782-4000 or msimmonsCC_,cabarmsregional
coc.org. Thank you for taking time to consider this very important event!

Melissa A.
