Each shock is maintained at a consistently lower watts per
second than the other model. The Physio-Control model increases thc watts per second with
each additional shock. Continued successive shocks at higher wa_~oge reduces the resistance of
the heart muscle which in turn reduces the potential for a successful resuscitation.

Additionally, Rowan-Cabarms Community College already has training equipmem that is
specific to the Laerdal monitor. (Rowan County and slffround;ng agencies are presently using the
Laerdal monitor)

Therefore, based on the information above, and on customer satisfaction, it is my
recommendation that the choice of purchase should be Laerdal.

IfI can assist further, please call.

Emergency Medical Services

31 Willowbrook Drive · Co-cord, NC 28027 · (704)786-9193
www. co.cabarrus.nc.us
