CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK <br /> April 9 - 15, 2000 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, county government is one of the oldest forms of local government in the United <br /> States; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />county government's primary concern is to assure that county leaders provide <br />information and encouragement to its citizens so that together they can build strong <br />sustainable communities which nurture the economic, environmental and social well- <br />being of all citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County and the other county govemments in North Carolina play a key role <br />in the governmental parmership as the local provider and facilitator of important <br />services for the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County and its employees provide a wide spectrum of services to meet the <br />needs of the public, including such programs as health care, child and elder care, <br />environmental protection, social services, job training, parks and recreation, <br />emergency medical services and law enforcement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County serves as a major partner in the public education system, <br />contributing its share of funding to elementary-secondary schools as well as to <br />community colleges; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />proclaims the week of Apr/1 9 - 15, 2000 as <br /> <br />County Government Week in Cabarrus County <br /> <br />and urges all citizens to be more involved in and aware of issues facing Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 20~ day of March, 2000. <br /> <br />Arne L.
