5. Held a Community Advisory Committee Open House at the Cabamas County Senior Cente,~ to meet facility <br /> administrators and staffi <br /> <br />6. Members sought the support of local dvic and church organizations to provide personal items to residents. <br /> <br />7. New member recruitment and orientation. <br /> <br />8. Serve as volunteers in facility activities through church groups and community groups for siug-alongs, parties, <br /> storytelling groups, etc. <br /> <br />9. Members attended Behavioral Interventions In Dementia Care Conference sponsored by the Centrahna Area Agency <br /> on Aging and hdd at the NorthEast Medical Center in Concord. <br /> <br />10. Attended Anniversary celebration at Caremoor Adult Care Home <br /> <br />11. One member serves as regular Bingo volunteer at Carillon Assisted Living. <br /> <br />12. Members conduct sing-alongs in fadlities as part of church group. ~ <br /> <br />13. One member attended statewide training held in Raleigh for 'q~he Year of the International Adul¢'. <br /> <br />14. One member assists in programs and visits sponsored by church hand bell choir and line dance groups. <br /> <br />15. Considerable advocacy efforts were made by many members of the group in support of Senate Bill 10 "Safety <br /> Initiative in Adult Care Homes". <br /> <br />COMMITTEE STRENGTHS <br /> <br />1. Good working rdationship with the staff and fadlity administrators. <br /> <br />2. Good working relationship with regional Ombudsman. <br /> <br />3. Excellent rapport with residents and families dm4ng facility visits. <br /> <br />4. Active in the community through other volunteer opportunities in churches and dvic groups. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE CHALLENGES <br /> <br />1. Lack of enough committee members. Need for appointments in a timdy manner who wish to be trained quickly. <br /> <br />2. Lack of partidpation of some committee members due to lack of commitment, lack of interest or time, or hck of <br /> experience. <br /> <br />3. Staffing turnover and lack of training in facilities. <br /> <br />4. limited public awareness of the committee and their function. <br /> <br />5.
