~CENTRALINA OMBUDSMAN ACTIVITIES IN CABARRU$ COUNTY FOR t999] 1. Provided technical assistance and support to the 12 ~ County Community Advisory Committee volunteers and 1,585 residents in 26 long-temi care facilities. 2. Ombudsman conducted a total of 70 facility visits throughout the county. 3. Provided technical assistance to Division of Facility Services survey team for their annual certification survey, re-survey, or complaint investigation at six Cabarms County nursing homes. 4. Conducted 15 staffin-service sessions on topics ranging ~omresident's rights issues to dementia and difficult behaviors. 5. Attended 3 Family Councils meetings in dlff, urent facilities. 6. Conducted 7 community education programs on long-term care issues throughout 7. Held Behavioral Interventions in Dementia Care Conference at NorthEast Medical Center with 300 attendees ~om all eight counties in Region F. 8. Sent 2000 calendars to the Cabarms County Adult Care Home and Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee members along with a legislative update and actiori plan on the Senate Bill 10 rule h~plementation process. 9. Conducted training and orientation for 8 new Community Advisory Committee members. 10. Attended meeting for all counties on Dim~ter Planning for long term care facilities. Il. Developed and disseminated information on upcoming proposed legislation affecting long-term care, including a Special Care Unit Disclosure Act. 12. Conducted four quarterly business-training meetings for both Cabarms County Coii.nunity Advisory Committees held at the Cabarms County Senior Center. 13. Prepared and di~tr~uted information, and provided transportation to Advocacy Day at the North Carolina Legislature which was designated by Representative Beverly Earle o f Mecklenburg County. 14. Presented the annual 1998 Cabarrus County Community Advisory Committee report to the Cabarms County Commissioners along with four of the committee members.
