Box 707 <br />Concord, NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Request for action by the Board of Commissioners and notification regarding <br />support for the implementation of local transit service. <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Cliffon, <br /> <br />In August, 1999 the MPO approved a set of recommendations and findings to support the <br />implementation of public transportation in the urban area. You were notified of this <br />action and invited to participate in the development of this new service (see <br />correspondence 8/30/99). The next requirement to bring service to the area is to develop <br />a transit implementation plan that is agreeable to all parties and stakeholders. In order to <br />proceed the MPO requires formal notification from ~,our board as to their sun_fiort, or <br />~onsup~orkof service implementatiOn. <br /> <br />The maximum transit service proposed would be a fixed route extending through the <br />urban area. The MPO has stressed the importance of coordinating any future service with <br />existing local specialized and future regional transit. <br /> <br />Thank you for ad. dressing t~is matter.
