CABARRU$/SOUTH ROWAN URBAN AREA <br />METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />SOUTH ROWAN · CABARRUS * CHINA GROVE · LANDIS · KANNAPOLI$ · CONCORD · HARRISBURG <br /> <br />RESOLUTION BY THE TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY <br />COMMITTEE OF Tlt-E CABARRUS/SOUTH ROWAN <br />METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />To approve the recommendations presented in the Transit <br /> Feasibility Study <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the transportation planning process considers the needs ofnsers with <br />respect to all practical modes including automobile, rail, aviation and transit; and <br /> <br />WglEREAS, the Cabarrns/South Rowan Urban Area is experiencing rapid growth <br />with an increase ofresidems, visitors, businesses and services creating greater demand on <br />existing transportation infrastructure. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the addition of transit service will provide another transportation option <br />to access employment, services, recreation, and shopping thereby reducing automobile <br />trips and availing transportation to those without private access; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recommendations contained in the study provide for the greatest <br />service to users while being flexible in planning and implementation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Concord has been recommended to serve as the lead for <br />management and operations of a future transit service. <br /> <br />NOW BE IT RESOLVED that the Metropolitan Planning Organi?ation <br />Transportation AdvisoD' Committee hereby endorse the concept of the Transit Feasibility <br />Study and encourage all effected governing bodies to participate in funding. <br /> <br />Kenneth B.
