This additional funding will
assist in paying for a new crash truck and a new facility for the Rescue
Squad.

Mr. Harwood stated the assistance provided by Cabarrus Rescue Squad is
invaluable to the success of the Cabarrus EMS.

~TPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Casper and
unanimously carried, the Board agreed to increase the FY 2001 allocation to
the Cabarrus Rescue Squad to $40,000.00.

There was brief discussion regarding the collapse of the pedestrian
bridge at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 20, 2000. Local HMS personnel along
with various EMS units from surrounding counties, rescue squad members, fire
department personnel, law enforcement personnel and many other volunteers
assisted with the emergency situation.
