Section 8 <br />Facilities and Resources Available Through <br />Private Enterprise <br /> <br />Private enterprise, BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. (BFI) currently owns the <br />franchise for hauling and disposal of the municipal solid waste for the unincorporated <br />areas of the County and for disposal for the municipalities of KannapoHs, Harrisburg <br />and Mount Pleasant. The County will continue to operate its landfill for the disposal <br />of solid waste in roil-off boxes for transfer to the Lowes Motor Speedway landfill. <br />Private enterprise is used by the County for disposal or sale of used motor oil, tires, <br />LCID, white goods and recyclables. Private enterprise is used throughout the County <br />and the municipalities, especially for the collection of industrial, commercial and <br />institutional waste in areas not serviced by the municipalities. Private enterprise also <br />operates a facility known as the Highway 49 C&D Landfill and Recycling Center. <br /> <br />AX s-~ <br /> <br /> <br />
