NOOTH CAROLINA

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

RE:

CC:

Jonathan Marshall, Planning Director

Janet Slack, Planner

June 12, 2000

Barrier Road Name Change

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

This memo is in regard to the Petition 00-01, request for a road name change for the
north-south extension of Barrier Road to Cindy Lane. This request was protested by
some of the residents who own property directly off of the right-of-way of the street,
however no efforts were made to come to a common resolution among those who
are in protest and those who support the change. As a result, I would like to request
to proceed with the road name change to assure that any and all emergency
responses will arrive as quickly as possible, without any confusion as to an
individual's location.

My request is based upon the following:

1. lack of resolution for a commonly agreed upon road name by all of those who
reside in the effected area;
2. the need for action on this matter; and
3. that, based upon my calculations of the road frontage and of those property
owners who signed the "Renaming Road Petition", the petitioners collectively own
eighty-seven percent (87%) of the road frontage.

If you have any further questions or need any more information, please let me know.

Planning Services Division

P.O. Box 707 · Concord, NC 28026-0707 · (704) 788-8141
