CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Meeting Date: July 24, 2000 Agenda Item SUBJECT: Cabarrus County School Administrative Complex On March 20, 2000, the Board received the proposal from Benderson Property Development, Inc. and Stephen B. Goodman for the purchase of the County Schools Administrative facility in the amount of $1,425,000 and for the design and development ora 67,300 square foot administrative facility for the County Schools at a cost not to exceed $3,850,000. The Board at that time authorized the upset bid process for the School Administrative Complex. The appropriate "Contract of Sale" was prepared and approved by the County Attorney. The "Notice of Offer" was published on June 30, 2000. Persons had 10 days from the date of publication to submit any upset bids. No upset bids were received during the bid period that ended at 5:00p. m. on July 10, 2000. REQUESTED ACTION: Authorize the County Manager and County Attorney to enter into Agreement(s) as required for the sale of the existing Cabarrus County Schools Administrative Complex at the bid amount of $1,425, 000. O0 (with required action of the School Board) and for the development of appropriate Agreement(s) for the construction of a new 67,300 square foot School Administrative facility at a cost not to exceed $3,850,000.00 (with required action of the School Board) per the Bid submitted by Benderson Property Development, Inc., and Stephen B. Goodman, subject to provisions of the contract bid documents inclusive of provisions detailed and previously authorized by the County Commission.
