March 20, 2000 <br /> <br />ProDosed UDset Bid for the County School Admin%strative Complex on .Hiqhway 29, <br />Concord <br /> <br /> The Board received the proposal from Carpenter/Benderson to purchase the <br />County Schools Administrative Office Complex on Highway 29 in Concord. The <br />proposal included the following: {1) Carpenter/Benderson will purchase the <br />approximately fifteen (I5) acre tract on U.S. 29 for $1,425,000.00 or <br />$95,000.00 per acre subject to conditions as laid out in the submitted <br />contract; (2) Carpenter/Benderson further agrees to design and develop for <br />Cabarrus County Schools a 67,300 square foot administrative facility as <br />described in the attached scope for a price of $3,850,000.00 (including all <br />sitework, paving, landscaping as described in the scope) this proposal assumes <br />developer will be paid monthly based o~ 95 percent of the work complete and <br />materials delivered. (3) This facility' wftl be constructed on a rough graded <br />site with utilities provided by Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the upset bid process for the County <br />School Administrative Complex on Highway 29 as set forth in the <br />Carpenter/Benderson proposal (see above) subject to: (1) Approval/Request by <br />the Board of Education; (2) Agreement to an alternate site; and (3) any legal <br />parameters established by recommendation of the County Attorney. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartsell explained that the proposal was a complicated transaction <br />and special legislation may be required. <br /> <br /> <br />
